The old saying goes "those who can't do teach" but on the rare occasion you find the one who can do and teaches. P. Manzell Bledsoe, born Preston Manzell Bledsoe is the musician who defies the truth of that cliché and against all odds and opposition is making his solo debut with the release of his single in the Spring of 2017 with his first full length solo album to follow.
P. Manzell Bledsoe discovered and fell in love with Jazz at the tender age of 11 and it was that same love that motivated him to study countless hours under the tutelage of some of the greatest music minds throughout his childhood and to continue those studies as an adult. While some would call him a perfectionist he will tell you that he is just passionate about his craft. This passion has helped him to define who he is as a musician, teacher and composer. He has graced stages in Paris France, Italy, London England, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria; and plays instruments to include: Tenor, Alto, and Soprano Saxophone; Clarinet; Flute; and Piano.
His influences include everyone from Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, to Grover Washington Jr. and Joe Henderson just to name a few. His compositions respectfully and uniquely pay homage to his mentors and he prides himself on being ever so careful to honor the traditions of the Jazz community while blazing his own trail. Bledsoe's music is reminiscent of the Spanish blood that flows through his veins and as rhythmic as his ancestor's African drums. His gift of music transcends time and space, gender and race and takes you on a journey to a place where everything is erased and all that remains is music.
